For Day 4 of my Getting My Sh*t Together Card Challenge, I was tasked with making a card hits a magical trifecta: personal, punny, and borderline absurd in the best way.
This one? Knocked it out of the park. Or… lane? Whatever, it’s a strike.
This custom handmade Mother’s Day card with slider was commissioned by a friend for her mom—and let’s just say it features a healthy dose of bowling flair, a built-in joke, and a dramatic entrance worthy of a league champion.
🛠 Supplies Used:
- Cricut Design Space/Cricut Joy Xtra
- Distress Oxide Inks for background and pin shading
- Sizzix Big Shot and unknown brand die for slider slot
- Slider mechanism
- and of course, our handy dandy foam tape

Handmade Mother’s Day Card Featuring Cricut Chaos
I found all of the elements (the pins, the ball, the explosion) in Cricut Design Space. For the background, the lane, and the 7, I used Distress Oxide Ink, blended by hand for a retro glow-up.
The sentiment on the front reads:
“You’re in a League of Your Own!”
Perfectly campy, slightly dramatic, and just heartfelt enough to qualify as a Mother’s Day card. The bright yellow border ties it all together and gives it that punchy, neon-bowling-alley energy.

The Inside Joke That Seals It
The inside of the card features a personal joke between my friend and her mom—something hilariously specific and meaningful to them.
But that’s what made this card extra fun—it wasn’t just about making a pretty piece. It was about crafting a little moment that felt custom, clever, and totally one-of-a-kind. That’s the magic of a handmade Mother’s Day card.
With one strike, no spares, and all heart,
Breanna
