Let’s be honest—sometimes, you just really want to make a card full of mythical creatures and postage stamps, and July gave me the perfect excuse.
This month’s Paper Funday Challenge includes an optional Twist: stenciling, and you know I couldn’t resist. I went full fairytale with this whimsical, unconventional birthday card, made for a friend of a friend who (hopefully) appreciates magical nonsense as much as I do.
The star of the show? Lawn Fawn’s Critters Ever After stamp set. If you’ve ever wanted to party with a dragon, unicorn, and frog prince—all at the same time—this set has you covered. I paired it with the Waffle Flower Postage Collage Die Set, which I’ve been absolutely itching to use. (Seriously, who doesn’t want their card to look like a fantasy-themed sheet of stamps?)
I built each little “stamp” scene like its own fairytale vignette, then brought in the twist using a rose stencil for the background. I lightly blended vibrant pinks and greens to give the whole card a soft, storybook vibe—like something you’d find tucked inside a wizard’s mailbag.
And yes, that wand in the top left corner does say “make a wish,” because what’s a birthday card without a little magic?
💌 Supplies Used:
- Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After stamps
- Waffle Flower Postage Collage Die Set
- Trinity Stamps 2 Layer Rose Stencil + Distress Oxide Inks
- Ohuhu markers for coloring the crew
- A deep commitment to whimsy
I love that this card ended up being both playful and structured—like a postage grid of fantastical nonsense. It’s weird, it’s cute, it’s layered in ink and joy. Mission accomplished.
Hop on over to the Paper Funday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team created this month—and maybe even join in yourself! Whether you stencil or not, the magic’s in the making.
Until next time,
🦄 Breanna
